As we sit at home, sheltered in place, we wish for things to go back to normal. But will they go back to the normal we knew before, or will there be a new normal? I believe the world has changed and it will be a new normal.
So, my questions to you in these changing times is:
What are you going to do about it? We are creative beings, and we can create the reality we want. The opportunity to do so has never been better than now.
Without looking back, but looking ahead at a practically blank canvas, what do you want to do? Who do you want to be? What do you want to create?
If you are taking time to meditate, quiet your mind, connect to source, daydream, you may be surprised by the promptings, inspirations, and insights that come to you.
Try playing around with some ideas. Many of the greats, successful people do this. Athletes call this their zone, musicians, their groove. Artists, business people, writers, people of all walks of life have found that in silence comes inspiration to action. I write and speak, I counsel and coach.
We now face an unknown certainty of what is ahead. You can let that lead you by fear or find a path of renewed hope and optimism.
We are often resistant to pursuing our dreams. We put resistance in our path because of existing beliefs about ourselves. Now things have changed. We can create a beautiful new reality. We can tell a new story and write an original life script.
Once I had a beautiful idea that involved bringing build-a-bear machines into children’s cancer wards. Letting them pick out a bear, bring it to life, choose the clothing, and a name. Just to have a bearthey created to hug and hold through the long lonely nights.
My heart soared at the idea. I could see the smiles and the joy this brought.
As I did my research, I found this was not a feasible idea. The dust and materials are not allowed in hospitals. These are patients with compromised immune systems and sometimes lungs. I never want to do something that may cause harm. I was a little sad that this dream was not possible.
I soon jumped back to joy, though. I realized how much just having the idea felt good. I was able to feel the passion I had when telling the idea to people.
Joy is not in the end product but the creating of the ideas. I was grateful for the fun and excitement having the idea. I felt satisfied.
Coming from a place of being inspired by spirit feels so wonderful. Not every idea is meant to become a masterpiece. Sometimes it is just teaching you to be open to the ideas that come. Take time to connect to God, the Universe, your inner being, or higher self. Let it flow. Don’t try to make anything happen, but watch the cooperative components come to you.
As in the stream analogy, don’t struggle upstream but drop the oars and let the flow take you downstream with the current.
So, what can you do now that the world, business, finance, and social interactions are changing?
Allow yourself to be inspired into something new. You can teach, write blogs, make podcasts or videos, create art, music, write stories, or become a coach. The possibilities are endless.
Take the time we have been gifted. I am fortunate because I still have a full-time job. But I no longer have the two-hour commute. Take the gift of time to be inspired. Look towards a new world, a new frontier, and create something spectacular.
Tell a new story, write a new script. Create a joy filled beautiful life. One that not only inspires you but all of those that you radiate out to.
Love and Blessings,
Ashley J. Spurgeon
