We all enjoy having money, it really does make life a lot easier. It seems to go faster than we can make it though.
I enjoy seeing ways I can hang onto some of it. I was sitting on my porch just thinking of ways to save up money that is kinds of a fun challenge.
When I started playing with the numbers the amounts began to jump up pretty quickly. Here is what I found.
If you quit getting your nails done and set the savings aside you can have a minimum of $1000 by the end of the year. I get my nails done every two weeks at $40 after tip. That over 12 months equals $1020. Would I rather have pretty nails or an extra thousand dollars?
Fancy and flavored coffees are fun. But to run through a Starbucks daily on the way to work can get pretty pricey. You can tell I don’t go to Starbucks often because I am not even sure of the prices. I am just using an example of a three dollar charge on a cup of coffee. I’m sure that is low. But $3.00 a day, five days a week over 50 weeks (You have 2 weeks vacation, right) comes out to $750. Didn’t you say you wanted a new TV for your living room? Or, place the wish item here, _________.
You are so busy that you do not have time to prepare lunches ahead of time. I like to take one serving of dinner and put it in a container before we even begin eating. Now I have a lunch prepared. I know that each time I go out for lunch during the work day it is anywhere from $7-$15 a day. That is $1750-$3750 a year that you are saving. How often at the end of the week you are throwing away left overs anyway? How much does that cost you?
So lets do the math on just a few items.
That is only saving in three areas. What else can you think of? Here are a couple of other things that I do. These are also featured in my book, “Exceptional YOU; The love yourself edition”. Available on Amazon
I never spend my change. I have a jar I put it in. I am just really curious how much I will have saved once it is full. I’ll let you know when I get there.
On weeks that I have a little extra, I will take out $20-40 extra when shopping. I put this away in a secret place and really do my best to forget it. I also never spend my $1 and $5 dollar bills. I put these away also. I tend to save up a couple hundred at a time. Usually just in time for the next family emergency spending happens like needing a new tire or a medical situation arises. We are not put out because we have a savings built up. Or you can keep saving it all year and find your self with a couple of thousands in time for Christmas or vacation.
If you are struggling with money management that is an area that we work with in life coaching. If you need help please contact me for a free consultation and we can discuss how we can develop a plan just for you that will ease and help.
What creative ways do you save money. Please share in the comments.
