So many ambitions people have a similar stumbling block. It does not matter if it is your new business idea or your goals to better yourself personally. Do you want to know how to be successful at ANY endeavor? Begin doing action steps.

Feel like you are on a treadmill?

People with good intentions study up first. Reading and studying make sense, and I am all for reading, podcast and webinars, and how-to. I spent over ten years in college learning. I switched my major three times. I love learning, and I strive to learn something new every day.

But when is it time to stop learning and start doing? I am so guilty of this. I’ll give an example.

I wanted to start a business as an event planner. I am a certified project manager, and this is very similar, so I thought this would be a great business to start. For those in this field, it is a beautiful and fun industry ā€” also a lot of long hours and hard work. Kudos to you.

I bought books, created a web site, wrote excellent blog posts, read more books, took online courses, and guess what happened?

Nothing.

Another example: I wanted to lose weight. I would research diet plans, look at all of the before-and-after photos on Pinterest, I would look at the exercise challenges. I thought that maybe mind-over-matter would help. I could accomplish this through visualization and positive affirmations. Well, guess what happened?

Nothing.

You can over study, over read, over motivate yourself and still get nowhere. What you need are the actions steps to move forward and start seeing results.

With weight loss, people that do not struggle think, what is the big deal? Well, you are working with so much more than a physical weight on a body. You are working with the mindsets, the years of patterns and habits, the self-esteem, relationships that can block your forward progress. Sometimes it takes more. Sometimes it takes a community, someone to be accountable to, a cheerleader and someone to give helpful advice when things aren’t going as you think they should ā€” someone who motivates you when you need a little push in the right directions.

In business, you can know so much about your trade, but do you know how to get people in your door?

I work with small firm lawyers. They are taught everything they need to know to practice law and nothing of business. Do you know what a funnel is and how to get clients through it? Do you know what a campaign is? Clients are not going to call your phone or walk through your door just because you built a web page or hung your shingle.

You have to get out of the learning phase and move into the doing phase. Learn to take all of your knowledge, and move forward to real actions that will bring you to a marketable level in your field if you do not know how there are many people and resources to help ā€” a small investment to much larger profits.

Sometimes we can do it ourselves and sometimes we need a helping hand. There are so many coaches out there that can help you move forward and start seeing a profit in your business and even better happy satisfied clients. There are executive coaches, business coaches, weight, and health and wellness coaches, spiritual, personal development coaches. That is a great place to start.
